Welcome to our Isle of Lewis holiday cottages
We know that no two visitors – and no two holidays – are ever the same, so whether you want to see us regularly or not at all, whether you’re out all day every day, maybe walking the coastal route to Bosta which passes both Atlantic View Cottage and Valasay Crofthouse, or just busy doing nothing in front of the fire in your home from home, we’ll try our best to make sure that the holiday you really want is the holiday you have. Our latest property, Achmore Cottage is only a 15 minute drive to Stornoway but still offering wonderful panoramic views from the cottage.
** Coronavirus Update 30/06/2020** The First Minister of Scotland has published the roadmap out of Lockdown. In addition she has said that self catering properties like mine can re-open on 3rd of July. There is a review of the 2m social distancing rule, due by 3rd of July, and there has been some hints dropped that there are a number of changes to be announced then. For those planning to travel by ferry, Calmac is currently not taking any new online reservations until 2 weeks before date of travel. You can find the summer timetable for Ullapool-Stornoway here and for Uig-Tarbert here. The Calmac reservation desk phone number is 0800 066 5000. If trying to book online, there have been reports of issues with certain browsers, particularly Chrome and Edge. I found the process worked well on my android phone when I couldn’t proceed with my laptop. If you register for an account with Calmac in advance, it might help to make checkout a little easier on booking day as you’ll have all your details stored! Facecoverings are currently mandatory on ferries and aircraft.
Please note that this advice will take priority over the guidance from the UK Government. Please also look at the advice from the Ferry operator and airline. The next update on phase 3 is due no later than 10th of July.
Some visitors coming from outwith the UK, will be no longer be required to self-isolate for 14 days on entry to the UK, beginning on the 6th of July. Full details will be released around 1st July. So far that may only apply to England and not Scotland, again that may be one of the announcements on the 3rd of July in Scotland.
We are happy to take bookings which begin after the 18th of July but need to make you aware that capacity on the ferry is extremely limited and should be reserved as soon as possible after 2nd of July. We have changed our booking terms for any new bookings this year. We will now not ask for a deposit, and the request for balance payment will be 2 weeks prior to holiday start date or when you have confirmed your ferry reservation, whichever comes first. If you already have a reservation for this year we will happily move it to another date of your choice, or help you to reclaim the cost of your holiday on your travel insurance. We will maintain the high standards of cleanliness you have come to expect of us, and will use antiviral products when cleaning.
In return, we ask you to support the tourism industry on these islands as the economy is fragile at the best of times. If you would consider a holiday when safe to travel this year, please register your interest here.
We are very proud to have achieved 4 star rating, awarded by VisitScotland, in all three of our self-catering properties. If, like us, you value quality accommodation in a setting of natural beauty , then we think you’ll love Lewis Cottages too.
Our aim is to make sure you have a fantastic self-catering holiday on the Isle of Lewis, so if there’s anything you’d like to know about the area or about booking the properties then please, ask away. It’s why we’re here …
